Lighting

In all cases the DER (dwelling emission rate) should be calculated using a fixed assuption of 30% low energy fittings.

 

Design Standards

Reasonable provision would be to provide in the areas affected by the building work, energy efficent light fittings that number not less than the greater of:

A) one per 25sm of dwelling floor area (excluding garages) or part there of; or

B) one per four light fittings

A light fitting may contain one or more lamps.

 

Fixed External Lighting

Fixed external lighting means lighting fixed to an external surface of the dwelling supplied from the dwelling occupier's electrical system. It excludes the lighting in common areas in blocks of flats and other access-way lighting provided communally.

 

Compact fluorescent lamps would meet the standards required. GLS tungsten lamps with bayonet cap or Edison screw base, or tungsten halogen lamps would not.
